Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2023

This was my third year doing a 3-part lettering series for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This first drawing focuses on encouraging people to take the negativity that they usually aim towards victims and instead look to the perpetrators.

No. 1

This drawing once again begs one to consider that there are people who deserve your support, and those who don’t. Abusers, rapists, sexual assaulters, and misogynists do not.

No. 2

Rape Culture

“A society or environment whose prevailing social attitudes have the effect of normalizing or trivializing sexual assault and abuse.”

This drawing is meant to draw awareness to the prevalence of rape culture. Most people aren’t rapists and most people aren’t sexual assaulters, but most people are complacent in rape culture. Not holding perpetrators accountable normalizes assault. Blaming victims trivializes it. Stop perpetuating rape culture.

No. 3

Each drawing of this year’s series also exists in an animated form, seen below.
